Lorraine Katherine Ball (nee Folk) of Holdfast, SK. passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the age of 78. Lorraine leaves to mourn her doting husband Albert; their four children Darrell Ball, Denise (Armand) Jeannot, and their four children; Morgan, Alexandra, Keon, and Jakob; Merlin Ball, and Searle (Sheena) Ball, their three daughters Danaka, Karissa, and Jaycee.
Lorraine was predeceased by her parents Genus and Katherine Folk; parents in law Adam and Magdelina Ball; brothers and sister Edward Folk, Gerald Folk, Patrick Folk, LaVerne Folk, and Judith White; and brother in law Thomas Smith.
She also leaves to mourn or join her in heaven her many siblings and in laws; Gloria (Lawrence) Toth, Janet Gardner (Floyd Mitchell), Dorothy Heck (Michael Ward), Maurice (Mary) Folk, Merrill (Laurel) Folk, Gina Folk, Arlene Reither-Folk, Clifton White; and her extended family Katherine (+Ed) Dielschneider, +Frank (Eileen) Ball, Daniel (+Donna) Ball, +Rose (+John) Fuchs, Helen Ball, Pauline (Neil) Mooney, Valentine (Grace) Ball, Joe (+Marg) Ball, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In her youth Lorraine attended school in Holdfast. This was when she found her first calling – schoolteacher. Upon her convocation, she taught for three years in Montmartre and one year in Watrous, Sk. After falling in love with Albert, and marrying on July 18, 1970, Lorraine found her second calling – Mother. When Lorraine was not busy caring for her family she enjoyed spending her time crocheting, knitting, and tracing her family’s lineage. Genealogy was a true passion that she worked diligently on for many years.
Lorraine’s family is thankful to the Regina Pasqua Hospital, and the General Hospital staff for their kindness, compassion and care they gave Lorraine in her final days.
