Jim shared forty-seven incredibly cherished years with the love of his life, his beautiful wife, Lynn. His immediate and extended family have hearts full of immense love and tremendous sorrow, as his impact on everyone’s life was so profoundly positive. His son Tyler (Denise) and their children Connor, Brynnlyn, Paige, Meghan, Jayden, and Austin; his daughter Shauna (Tom) and their children Brayden and Marea; his brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and anyone who ever knew him have all been given the gift of knowing a man of immeasurable grace and dignity. Many have shared with us the words, “he was so loved,” which resonates deeply.
Jim was born in Kendall, SK and moved to Regina when he was a young boy. His work at Steen & Wright and McLarens Renovations was very meaningful to him. Jim was very proud of the trusted relationships he developed with his customers through his professionalism, honesty and integrity. Letters were cherished that were written to him personally to express their gratitude. Whether it was his kind personality, his joyful laugh or his witty sense of humor, it was always fun and easy to be around Jim, although one always felt a little disheveled compared to ‘Mr. Debonair,’ with his exquisite style, fashion and charm. Jim’s genuine devotion was to his family. He had great memories of building their first home with Lynn and raising their children in Pilot Butte, before eventually moving to their long-time home in Regina. He had such excitement and pride in all of his children’s, grandchildren’s and extended family’s involvements. Jim could always be found supporting on the sidelines, in the gym or at the rink. Everyone loved having ‘Papa’ there. In his down time, watching the Rider games and the annual fishing trip to Tobin Lake were not to be missed. Jim also took real pleasure in traveling to the West Coast with Lynn. From BC to California, from Presidential Libraries to salmon fishing, and everything in between, Jim and Lynn savored their experiences and time together.
In his final days, the compassion given to Jim at the Pasqua Palliative Care was tremendous. The family has enormous gratitude for the care the doctors and nurses provided. Our family will be celebrating Jim’s life at Holy Trinity Parish, 5020 Sherwood Drive, Regina, SK on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers we encourage you to make donations to the charity of your choice.
