With heavy hearts we announce the passing of (Sir) George Pettigrew on Monday November 2, 2015 at the Regina General Hospital. George was 87 years young and he took his last breath in this life with his family by his side. George was blessed with an infectious personality and a true love and passion for life. George leaves behind to celebrate his life, his loving wife of 63 years & life partner for over 70 years, Lillian, his sister, Roberta (Harmon) their children Rob (Michelle)and Dwight ; grandchildren, Leigh and Sara, his children, Ronald (Brenda) their children, Adam (Marni), Sara and Garett, great- grandchildren, Ty and Shelby, Laura and her children Joshua and Luke, Kim and her son Georden (Jordyn) and great-granddaughter Lucy, Rodney (Rhoda) and children Dillon, Ben and Kendra, Roger (Tricia) as well as other numerous relatives. George was predeceased by his Parents, Marguerite & Bob Raven, and his infant son, Jeffrey, as well as many aunts, uncles and relatives. For everyone that knew George, they knew that he was a polite, kind, generous, thoughtful, honest, hard-working, committed & resourceful man. For over six decades he spent innumerable hours volunteering in many capacities as a member of Eastview Rotary, District 555, Wa Wa Shrine, Chanters, Elks Club in addition to other numerous non-profit organizations. As a true humanitarian he continually invested his time, gifts, heart and soul to serve the community. He was a true gentleman, a loving husband, awesome Father and an avid sports enthusiast with a passion for curling. Singing was George’s passion. His “special gift” was his beautiful voice. Nicknamed “Bing” at a young age and dubbed a “crooner”, he invested countless hours as a member of various choirs. He performed in many concerts, Rotary Carol Festivals, fundraisers, weddings, receptions, anniversaries and memorials. Over the years he became a beloved favourite at local taverns in and around Regina, sharing his passion and talent. He will be missed by the local Karaoke community who loved hearing him sing his favorites “A White Sport Coat And A Pink Carnation”, “My Way”, “New York, New York”, “Everything I Do, I Do It For You” & “After The Loving” to name a few. He always brought a smile to the audience listening to the passion he invested into every song he sang. A celebration of George’s life will take place at Broadway Terrace, 1150 Broadway Avenue, Regina, Sask., on Sunday November 8, 2015 starting at 2 PM. Lunch will be served after the service.
