Elva Mildred Nelson (Treble), 100 yrs. old, of William Albert House, Emerald Park, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully at her home on October 21, 2016. Elva was born in the Huronville District, Saskatchewan on August 24, 1916. She moved to Fillmore at the age of five where she went to school and continued on to Normal School to become a teacher. Elva taught school for several years and then married Norman Nelson on June 6, 1945. They lived on the family farm until retiring to Fillmore in the early 1970’s and later moved to William Albert House in Emerald Park. Elva was actively involved in the Wheaton Guild, UCW, Hospital Auxiliary, Rebekahs, Legion Auxiliary, curling and bridge clubs. Elva enjoyed reading, curling, knitting and crocheting, crossword puzzles, following the senior baseball tournaments and of course the Blue Jays, Elva and Norman enjoyed entertaining family and friends, camping with their motorhome and wintering in Arizona and Texas. Elva is survived by niece; Donna Bruce, nephews; Duane (Lyn) Treble, George Treble, Marvin (Lynne) Chambers, Daryl (Darlene) Chambers, Emil (Irene) Nelson, Max Preikschat, and families. Elva was predeceased by husband of 62 years, Norman, mother and father; Thomas and Eva Treble, brothers; Lyle (Evelyn) Treble and Maurice Treble and sister; Ruth (Jim) Chambers, brother-in-laws; Odvar Nelson and Magnar (Mary) Nelson, niece; Carolyn Preikschat. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 27th, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Fillmore United Church, with Sharon Elliot officiating. Interment will follow at the Fillmore Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in remembrance may be made to the Fillmore Ambulance Fund, Box 101, or to the Fillmore Cemetery Fund, Box 185, Fillmore, SK. S0G 1N0. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Victoria Avenue Funeral Home and Cremation Centre.
