On Sunday, September 11, 2022 Dorothy “Dolly” Nameth of Cupar, SK passed away with her loving children and spouses by her side at the age of 98 years, just four days short of her 99th birthday. She was born on September 15, 1923, the eldest of six children to Tom and Louise Blundell of Dysart, SK.
Dolly is predeceased by her parents; her husband Frank in 2004; brothers Rene (Elaine), Jack (Betty), and Jim; sisters Muriel and Joyce (Earl Fletcher); grandson Rick Mearns; great granddaughter Tamara Schmidt; granddaughter-in-law Daphne Schmidt; mother-in-law Mary Nameth; as well as many in-laws, nephews and nieces.
She is survived by her loving children and spouses Irene (Larry Mearns), Jim (MaryAnn), Ken (Sharon), Frank Jr. (Linda), RoseAnn (Greg Schmidt); 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 6 great great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Dolly was raised on the family farm, North of Dysart, SK. After finishing school, she went out to work. In a couple of years, her jobs took her to Zala Post Office at Schnieders store in the Cupar district. Here is where she met the love of her life, Frank Nameth who returned from World War II. They married on October 30, 1946. They farmed together and raised five children 14 miles north of Cupar. The farm is still in the family. Dolly was a very hard worker; at one time, she milked 17 cows. She raised turkeys, chickens, and had a garden. Dolly loved her cows.
Dolly and Frank retired to Cupar in 1975. She still was not done working and had odd jobs around town then started working at the Shalom Nursing Home. She entered Shalom Nursing Home in December 2015 where she lived her final years.
Many loved mom’s pies. We had so many wonderful Christmas’s and Easter’s at mom and Dads. She truly was a one of a kind mom. Putting in so much time and effort, sometimes there were 68 of us for Christmas and Easter meals. This is very much-remembered mom by all of your family. Your grandchildren and great-grandchildren have so many great memories because of your hard work and kindness. We will love and cherish you mom all of our lives. Thanks for being a great person, mom, grandma, great-grandma, and great great-grandma. You will be missed.
We would like to thank the Fort Qu ‘Appelle ambulance for their services. Thanks to the staff at the Shalom Nursing Home from December 2015 – September 2022 for all the love and care given to mom and treating us always with respect and kindness. Mom became to enjoy her final years there with socializing and all the activities. She had said, “What would I be doing in my house all alone?” It took some time, but we all knew Mom (Dolly) “in time all was good.”
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Lee Funeral Home, 3101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK on Tuesday, September 12, 2022 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 801 Qu ‘Appelle Avenue, Cupar, SK on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
