It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Bernard. He passed away the morning of October 31, 2020 at the age of 83 years after experiencing a fall at home on October 30. He is predeceased by his wife Julia in 2008; mother Mary; father Joseph; brother Allan; sisters, Olga, Victoria and Anne; and special niece Cheryl. Bernie is survived by his daughters Nadine and Nicole (Kelly Phillipchuk); two grandchildren, Curtis and Kylie and Odin; grand-doggie from Estevan. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Bernie worked for CN Rail for 40 years and retired in 1995. He also had a successful janitorial business called Julie’s Janitorial for a number of years. Uncle Bernie, as he was known, was always there to guide with the wisdom of conversation as well as a helping hand. He would be the first to drop what he was doing if someone from the family or a friend needed help. Uncle Bernie and Aunty Julie’s house was always open for family and friends when needed. Dad really enjoyed A&W breakfast eggers, thank you A&W on Avonhurst & Albert for keeping Papa well fed every morning! We would like to thank the paramedics who came to Dad’s side as well as the emergency staff at the Regina General Hospital. The compassionate care that was given to Dad from the 5A nurses both named Chelsea, was exceptional. Their knowledge and compassionate care also extended to us as we walked through this experience with Dad. With short notice, Father Brad Fahlman came to the hospital to give Bernie his last rights, as his Catholic faith was an important part of his life. Those so wishing may make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan or The Canadian Mental Health Association, Regina Branch. Due to the current COVID – 19 restrictions a private service will take place.
