We announce the passing of our dearest mother, loving grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother Anne Metz of Regina, SK (formerly of Holdfast, SK) on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at the age of 98 years. Anne was predeceased by her loving husband John Metz; her sons Clarence and Brian Metz; her sons-in-law Glenn Sivertson, Some Nath Banerjee, Samuel Goebel; daughter-in-law Edith Metz; great-grandsons Ryan and Riley; her parents Mathias and Marian (Heisler) Burger; sister Katherine Obrigewitsch; stepfather Wendelin Mack; stepbrothers Adam, Leo, Joe Mack; and stepsisters Barbara Wahl and Josephine Lockert. Anne is survived by her loving twelve children, sons Gerald (Darlene) of Regina SK, Jerry (Linda) of Plamondon AB, Harold (Sharon) of Lantzville BC, Alvin (Dorothy) of Holdfast SK, Leslie (Deanna) of Regina SK, daughters Marion (Eddie) Loda of Thunder Bay ON, Doreen Sivertson of Preeceville SK, Linda Banerjee of Saskatoon SK (Teddy McDonald), Lorraine Metz (Richard Perzel) of Winnipeg MB, Donna Goebel of Grenfell SK, Joanne (John) Cherney of Prince Albert SK and Bernice (Rodney) Kelly of Regina SK and by her thirty-six grandchildren, sixty-nine great-grandchildren and fifteen great-great-grandchildren. Anne is also survived by her sisters-in-law Aggie Mack and Lil Mack, brother-in-law Rudy Metz and many nieces and nephews. Anne and her husband John farmed west of Holdfast for 40 years where they raised their 14 children. Next to Anne’s family her faith was her life. She was a member of Holdfast Catholic Women’s League for over 40 years. Throughout Anne’s life she was a very loving, caring and generous person. She always had a smile for everyone and had a very positive outlook on life regardless of the challenges she faced. At age 90 Anne moved to Queen Victoria Estates in Regina where she made many new friends and enjoyed the many activities especially the game of cribbage. To those who knew her she was known as the “Cribbage Queen”. Anne’s last few years were spent at Victoria Park Personal Care Home. Many thanks to Victoria Park Personal Care Home Staff, the EMS, 4A Pasqua Hospital doctors and nurses, William Booth Regina Wascana Grace Hospice Staff and Special Friends Helen Bechard and Margaret Miller. Prayers will be held at Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 East Victoria Avenue, Regina SK on Sunday April 17, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Assumption of the B.V.M. Roman Catholic Church at Holdfast SK on Monday April 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Frank Obrigewitsch celebrant and Deacon Jerry Metz co-celebrant. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery,Holdfast SK.
