Big Al was taken suddenly from us on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the age of 55 years. He leaves to mourn Cynthia, his wife of 29 years, daughters Grace and Laura, mother Roxy Caleval, sisters Calinda (Woody) Reed, April (Tim) Flemming, & Carry; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father James Lukovszki, grandmother Margaret Caleval, and grandfather Rex Caleval Sr. Al was born in Regina in 1967 and raised there for most of his childhood. He dropped out of school in grade 10 and after a few wild years, met his future wife at the age of 20. They stayed in Regina where Al worked at numerous gas stations; first as a pump jockey, then as a manager until his back issues made it so he was unable to work. In 2002 he became a lease operator for what was then Dewdney Shell. After three years, the now family of three moved to Moosomin, SK to run the Shell station there. By 2008, Al decided it was time to become completely self employed, so they bought the Esso station in Craven, SK, (which he owned until the time of his death) and moved to Lumsden, SK in 2010. It was during this time that his daughter Laura was born in 2013. Al was always full of energy and enthusiastic about life. His proper name: Alwyn is of English origin and means “friend”, which he was to many. He never judged people by their appearance or social status, only by their character. His back problems made it hard for him to do much, but he was always ready to help out anyone any way he could. He loved meeting new people and took a genuine interest in their lives. As well as being a huge lifelong Riders fan, he enjoyed playing soft tip darts, and fishing until his back pain made it impossible. A loving husband, father, and a loyal friend, his passing leaves a void that cannot be filled.
Funeral Service will be held at Lee Funeral Home, 3101 Dewdney Ave, Regina, SK, on Monday February 6, 2023 at 2:00 PM
