Thomas P. Myers, 86, passed away peacefully in Redondo Beach, California. Born in Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, Tom spent much of his life in the Chambersburg area, where his roots ran deep and his heart remained, even as his journey took him across the country and around the world.
Tom was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Mary Myers, who survives him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Anna Myers, as well as his siblings—brothers Harry, Frank, Lewis, Jim and his sister Evelyn.
A man of integrity, curiosity, and quiet strength, Tom dedicated over 27 years of service to IBM, working in both Hagerstown, Maryland and Boca Raton, Florida. He brought not only technical expertise but also a spirit of mentorship and professionalism that left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside him.
Tom's life was marked by a deep faith and a heart for service. He was a long-time member of Bethel Assembly of God in Chambersburg, where he served faithfully as Sunday School superintendent. His passion for missions led him to train with Youth With A Mission (YWAM), and he served on the Mercy Ship, offering help and hope to those in need around the world.
An Eagle Scout, Tom had the rare honor of being invited to the White House, where he met Vice President Richard Nixon—an experience he cherished and often recounted with quiet pride. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed golf, often spending evenings and weekends on the course.
Tom is survived by his son, Dr. Robert Myers, and daughter-in-law Cheri of Toccoa, Georgia; and by his cherished grandchildren, Joshua Myers of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Joy Myers of Springfield, Missouri. His legacy of love, faith, and generosity lives on through them.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A private graveside service will be planned in the coming weeks to celebrate Tom’s life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Myers Family Scholarship at Toccoa Falls College in Tom’s memory, continuing his commitment to helping others around the world.
