Stephen (Steve) Barker, 72, passed away on October 18th, 2022 at Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland, WA. He was the husband of Ruthie Barker, and they shared 50 years of marriage together after being longtime friends as children.
Born in Medford, OR, Steve was the son of Richard and Merle Barker. He attended Medford High School, graduating in 1968 before serving honorably in the United States Navy. After the Navy, Steve attended Western Oregon University and married Ruthie in 1972. During his adult life, Steve was successful in the food service industry as an owner and manager of several food service businesses. Steve was then the owner/operator of Diva Espresso in Seattle, WA before retiring in 2016.
Steve lived in the Redmond Ridge community of Redmond, WA where he enjoyed the friendship and company of many other retirees along with his wife. He worked in retirement at the Redmond Ridge Golf Course and enjoyed interacting with the staff and customers. Steve will be remembered for his dry wit, deep sense of duty and responsibility to anyone who cared for him or counted on him, and commitment to being there to support his children, and later grandchildren, having never missed a sport or activity along the way.
He is survived by his wife Ruthie, son Matthew (Karen) Barker, daughter Kylie (David) Rolf, granddaughters Katelyn and Megan Barker, niece Kindra Barker and nephew Joshua Barker.
Per Steve's wishes, no funeral is scheduled at this time. The family may hold a celebration of life at a later date.
