Age 84, was born into a Seattle Pioneer family September 5, 1925 the proud son of Jay Edward and Julia Cruikshank Dootson. He passed away at his Seattle home on August 15, 2010 with his daughters by his side. Robert graduated from Garfield High School in 1943 and was also graduated from the University of Washington receiving his Bachelor’s Degree as a member of the Class of 1947. He was a member and President of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He served his country faithfully as a member of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was the longtime property manager for the Norton Building in Seattle and co-owner of Dootson-Calderhead Gallery in Pioneer Square. Robert and his late wife Julia “Honey” Dootson were very active in the Arts Community in Seattle. Some of the positions for which he was most proud include Member of the Board of Directors for the Seattle Arts Museum, Asian Arts Council for the Seattle Arts Museum, Past President and Member of the Board of Directors for PONCHO, Member of the Board of Directors for the Seattle Opera, Member of the Board of Directors for the Four Winds Westward Ho Summer Camp, and he was a longtime member of the Seattle Tennis Club. Survivors include his beloved daughters Ele Dootson of Redmond, Carrie (Darin) Bottner of Woodinville; sister Beryl (John) Cronkhite of Kirkland, and grandsons Jay Sandstrom, Brian Sandstrom, Max Bottner, and Jake Bottner. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Robert’s Life on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 5:00 o’clock at the Seattle Tennis Club, 922 McGilvra Blvd. East, Seattle 98112.
