Emma Jane Litwa-Vulcu, born on June 15, 1987, and taken from us on June 9, 2024, was a remarkable woman whose presence brought light and joy to all who knew her. Emma's journey began in Carlisle, Arkansas, where she spent her youth and laid the foundation for her future endeavors. She furthered her education earning a BA in Studio Art from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR), and eventually earned a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from the prestigious Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California.
Emma's professional life was as vibrant as her spirit. Exceptionally talented, she excelled at everything she set her mind to. She was an incredible software engineer and web developer with numerous contributions to the open-source community, an award-winning film editor and colorist, and a talented and recognized photographer with a bold and unconventional artistic vision. In everything she did, she showcased her creativity and technical acumen in equal measure. Her work was a testament to her passion for both art and technology, blending innovation with artistry.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Emma had a wide array of interests and hobbies that spoke to her diverse talents. She found joy in crafting beautiful scale mail jewelry, in stone sculpture and woodworking, in 3D printing, and in cultivating a diverse array of culinary talents. Her creativity knew no bounds, and she poured her heart and soul into every project and craft she undertook.
In August 2020, Emma embarked on a new chapter of her life as she exchanged vows with her beloved spouse, Winry Litwa-Vulcu. Their union was a testament to the love and bond they shared, a true and unique love so evident to all who knew them, and promising a future filled with happiness and shared dreams.
Emma leaves behind a legacy of love and light that will be carried on by those she held dear. She is survived by her devoted spouse, Winry Litwa-Vulcu, her loving parents, Richard and Vanessa Litwa, her grandmother Alicia Pasley, her half-siblings Stephanie Vincent, Kim Neal and Richard Litwa Jr. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Doris and Albert P. Litwa, and her maternal grandfather, Van Ezell.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Emma will forever remember her for her big heart, her infectious laughter, her curiosity, incredible artistic talent, and her unwavering compassion. She truly brought so much light to this world and touched the lives of many with her warmth and generosity, leaving behind an enduring legacy of love and kindness.
Emma Jane Litwa-Vulcu may no longer be with us in body, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her memory will be a guiding light, a source of inspiration, and a reminder of the profound impact one individual can have on the world. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love and light that she shared so generously with those around her.
