Daoud was born on September 9, 1970, in Manhattan, NY, to Sister Leatrice Hayat Brown. He grew up in the Bronx, where he attended P.S. 111. As a teenager, Daoud and his family moved to Michigan, so his mother could attend the University of Michigan on a full scholarship. After she graduated, they relocated to Atlanta, GA, where Daoud attended Frederick Douglass High School and later moved to South Carolina.
After graduating from high school in 1989, Daoud followed in his Uncle, Dr. Jerry Brown's footsteps by joining the United States Coast Guard. After completing his training, he was stationed in Seattle, WA, where he served honorably during the First Gulf War. He was also assigned to the USCG Cutter Polar Star and Polar Seas, a Polar-class icebreaker. During his time on the cutter, Daoud and his crew traveled to Antarctica and Europe, assisting with missions and helping scientists retrieve specimens from Antarctic ice. During his service, Daoud was one of the chosen official limousine drivers for President Clinton.
After his military service, Daoud returned to Seattle and married Lisa Jackson. Daoud took on the role of a devoted husband and father to his four vibrant children, nurturing them with love and care. He was well-known in his community for his entrepreneurial spirit, often starting and excelling in new businesses, particularly in the painting industry.
With a keen sense of humor, he had a natural ability to lighten the mood, making everyone around him feel at ease. Known for being ahead of trends, he often introduced friends and family to new culinary delights, showcasing his passion for good food. He approached each day with remarkable courage and unwavering dignity, and his resilience inspired those around him to confront their battles with strength. As a Muslim, he welcomed any opportunity to discuss and answer questions about Islam.
He is survived by his children: Nadiya, Lailah, Jennah, and Jabriel, along with his granddaughter Sofia, who will carry on his legacy. He is also remembered by his brother, Isma'il, and his sister, Sami'ya, both of whom provided unwavering love and support. Based on his personality as a devoted son, his mother, although heartbroken, finds comfort in the mercy and forgiveness of Almighty Allah.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on March 25, 2025, at 9:30 AM at the military cemetery, Tahoma National Cemetery.
Daoud's strength, service, and love will be remembered by all who was blessed to know him. May he rest in peace.
