Arthur (Stan) Price passed away on July 3, 2014. Surrounded by loving family at his home in Redmond WA he was blessed to find eternal life after an on-going battle with cancer. Stan was born to Stephen and Edith Price 86 years ago at Ballard General Hospital in Seattle, WA. He is survived by Helen Marie of Redmond WA, his loving wife of 65 years, Heather and her spouse Rick Frazier of Redmond WA, and Belinda Price of Lakewood WA. Stan also loved and cherished his 6 grandchildren and their spouses; Steve and Julia Lewis of Longview WA, Gretchen and Blake Thorn of Coupeville WA, Aaron and Kara Frazier of Kirkland WA, Arthur and Alison Price of Tacoma WA, Evan Price of Astoria WA, and Kyle Frazier of Kirkland WA. In addition, he has been blessed with 8 great-grandchildren; Helen, Morgan, Paul, Samantha, Kevin, Aaron, Megan, and Ava. He was preceded in death by his daughter Karen Lewis, both of his parents, and siblings Howard, Lois, Edith, Dorothy, and Olive.
Stan started his work life in the meat markets where he spent 15 years working through various roles of broom and clean up man, cooler man, butcher, buyer and eventually owner of his own store. He desired other challenges and went to work for 39 years in the Life Insurance, Investment, and Financial Planning business primarily representing Lutheran Brotherhood. He was most proud of completing the college level work required to earn his Certified Life Underwriter (“CLU”) designation and that he achieved a life time membership into the Million Dollar Round Table, an international organization that recognized those in the industry that continuously met exceedingly high standards in serving their clientele.
While Stan really relished his work, he worked to live and did not live to work. He loved the fellowship provided at Faith Lutheran Church, particularly being a member of the choir, serving on council, and participating in the Sunday school program. Stan enjoyed life to the fullest. He was an avid golfer and cherished his time on the links with his friends. In addition, he loved his time spent with Helen in Kauai HI snorkeling, hiking and enjoying the weather. He also was an enthusiastic hunter where he looked forward to the annual trip to the “elk” camp with family and friends. Other activities included spending time in Lake Chelan WA and fishing at Lake Nimpo in Canada.
Stan was a gentle and loving man who was able to see the good in everyone. He loved people, constantly engaging them in conversation. He had a gift for storytelling. All of us will truly miss stories about his dad and mom, his buddies growing up, courting Helen, golfing, fishing, hunting, time in the meat market, and his years working for Lutheran Brotherhood. He had a real gift to bring one into his stories and used them to reveal his integrity, honesty, and love for each of us. Stan will truly be missed.
We will celebrate his life at a memorial service at Faith Lutheran Church, 9041 166th Ave NE, Redmond WA 98052 on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Refreshments will be offered in the narthex immediately following the service. Remembrances, in lieu of flowers, may be given to Faith Lutheran Church in his name.
Arrangements under the direction of Cedar Lawns Funeral Home, Redmond, WA.
