Sandra Jean Henderson passed peacefully on May 2, 2014 at her home, following an extended battle with cancer.
A sixteen year resident of Redding, she was born in Santa Cruz, California on February 28, 1948 and was a 1966 graduate of Santa Cruz High School.
Sandra spent several years as a professional model, and resigned as Queen of the Capitola Begonia Festival in 1967. She spent much of her career in aircraft marketing and sales. From 1998 until her death she worked with her husband in his aircraft sales firm at the Redding Regional Airport.
Her hobbies included flower arranging, collecting stuffed bears, gourmet cooking, and growing roses. She and her husband spent leisure time on their houseboat on Lake Shasta, where they enjoyed fishing and water sports, and using the boat as a base for entertaining friends and family.
She is survived by her husband, Bud Henderson, and her brother, Richard Katz, of Azalea, Oregon.
A procession will depart from Lawncrest Chapel at 11:30 on May 13, 2014, and proceed to Northern California Veterans Cemetery Chapel in Igo, CA, where a Committal Service will be held at 12:30..
There will be a Celebration of Life held at the Tail Of The Whale, Bridge Bay Resort - 10300 Bridge Bay Road - CA 96003, 530 - 275 - 3021.
