Roger Evan Hofhenke departed this life on December 31, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, California. He was born August 12, 1937 in Red Bluff, California to George John and Grace Blanche (Bucher) Hofhenke. He was raised in Red Bluff.
After graduating from Red Bluff High School in 1955, he went to work for the California Division of Forestry, now Cal-Fire. He started as a seasonal firefighter. Roger worked for Cal-Fire for 37 years, retiring in 1992. He was a fire investigator with a rank of battalion chief.
Ballroom dancing was one of his greatest pleasures in life. He loved to go out dancing with Dottie Ellis, his girlfriend of 8 years. They could be found out on the dance floor three or more nights a week before Covid. He loved dancing so much, he installed flooring in a bedroom in the house just so he could practice dance steps he saw in videos.
Roger was a wonderful father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his family. Surviving are his girlfriend, Dottie Ellis, son, Ron (Teresa) Hofhenke, grandson Matthew (Aspen) Hofhenke, great granddaughter Brynn, granddaughter Melissa (Justin) Saucedo and great grandsons Dylan and Brayden; Son, Jim (Kristen) Hofhenke, grandson Casey (Rachel) Hofhenke, great grandchildren Zachary, Loralei and Clayton Hofhenke, granddaughter Brooke Hofhenke, granddaughter Tiffanie Hofhenke (Nicholas Camargo), great granddaughter, Rowan, great grandsons Oliver, and Calvin. grandson Cash ; Daughter, Trini Hofhenke, granddaughter Tabitha (Aaron) Casas, great grandchildren Evan, Kylus, Dimitrius, Rocco, Dominic, Genevieve and Isabella, granddaughter Raechel (Ray Jay) Callejo, great grandchildren Nicola, Rayna, Kylie, Rammel, Schuyler, Braxton, Millie and Ren, granddaughter Melanie (Jack) Schneider, great grandchildren Sophia and Oliver (due in Feb).
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Hofhenke.
The memorial service honoring Roger’s life will be held at:
• Lawncrest Memorial Park
• 1522 East Cypress Ave. Redding CA – Graveside service only
• January 14th, 2021 at 1:00 pm
