Richard G Jones

Richard Jones lived a full, productive and happy life.

He was an accomplished athlete and enjoyed surfing, racquetball, running, lifting weights at the gym, and especially bicycling with his buddies. He enjoyed seeing different parts of the world and biked with others through Canada, Europe, Costa Rica, New Zealand, and many areas in the United States. He particularly loved Hawaii for its beautiful beaches and flowers. He served his country in the military. He served children during his long career as a teacher and coach, and was particularly passionate about improving the lives of students with special needs. He held high standards for behavior, believing strongly that people should live with integrity and assume responsibility for their own actions, and he lived that belief during interactions with his family, friends, students and colleagues in education. He saw the best in people and took the time to listen and encourage them to try new pursuits, go new places, be brave in their actions and to take full advantage of all life had to offer. He was intelligent, caring, funny, generous, and talented in so many ways and will be missed by those whose lives he touched, including his many friends, the daughters he adored Elysia Sheldon and Korina Loncosky, family members Patty Jones, Steve Loncosky, Scott Sheldon, his grandsons Carter and Hayden Loncosky, Carol Martin and others.

A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, November 29 at 12:00 noon at the First United Methodist Church at 1825 East St., Redding. All who knew him are welcome to join in honoring a life well lived.
