with the Lord Jesus on June 10th, 2011. His final days were spent
surrounded by family and friends.
Mike was born in Delano, CA on November 9th, 1947. He graduated from
Arroyo High School in 1966. He attended San Antonio College. He chose
History as his major and was a member of the track and field team.
Throwing the javelin was his specialty.
He worked various jobs in the southern California area. Often times he
worked two jobs to support his new family. He moved his children to
Redding, California in 1978 and not long after he found his calling to
be a school bus driver. He started out driving for Shasta Union High
School District and he retired from Gateway Unified School District in
May of 2008. He drove a total of 29 years. He was often referred to,
by students, as "the cool" bus driver.
One of Mikes' favorite work related activities was participating in the
local school bus roadeo. He loved competing even if he did not win he
encouraged his fellow bus drivers to do their best. Many times Mike did
win and he has the trophies and plaques to prove it.
He loved going to movies, reading, playing volleyball, softball, and
golf. He developed many a life long friendship playing sports.
Mike attended church, most of his life, and enjoyed singing in the
choir, going on mission trips, and being a camp counselor. He met his
wife, Vicki while attending North Valley Baptist Church. They were
married on August 23rd, 1986.
He is survived by Vicki Misener of Redding, California, his daughter
Tammie Odenbrett of Meridian, Idaho, Kenneth Misener of Sacramento,
California, Christopher Misener of Redding, California and grand
daughter Emily Odenbrett of Meridian, Idaho.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., July 30th, 2011 at First
Baptist Church, 1959 Eureka Way, Redding, California.
