1928-2013
Rocky passed away at his home in Redding, California, on November 14, 2013.
He was born on April 24, 1928, in Gaylord, Minnesota. He spent his youth in Virginia, Minnesota. After graduating High School, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served his country until the end of WWII. He graduated from the University of Minnesota at Duluth with a teaching credential. He taught school at Warroad and Cass Lake, Minnesota. From there he moved his family to the West Coast. He was a teacher at Shasta High School, worked in the research lab at US Plywood, and worked at the Shasta County Assessor’s office as a supervising rural appraiser until he retired.
He is survived by Joyce, his wife of 65 years and six children: Susan Creighton-Clavel of Carmichael, California; Mark Creighton of Burns, Oregon; Joan Phillips of Anderson, California; Barry Creighton of Anderson, California; Nancy Christensen of Arlington, Oregon; and Janet Giles of Cottonwood, California.
He was blessed with and is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by infants Richard and Marsha.
Rocky loved football and never waivered in his support for the 49ers. Rocky and Joyce spent many years of retirement relaxing during the summer months in Trinidad on the California Coast.
A Chapel service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Lawncrest Chapel in Redding, California.
