Jeffrey D. White of Burney passed away August 29. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 11:00 AM at the Burney High School football field. A pot-luck will follow the service and be held at the Burney Lion's Hall.Jeff was born September 2, 1947 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Donald E. and Doris M. White. The family moved to Rapid City when Jeff was 4, where he attended school until entering and graduating from the Saint John's Military Academy in Salina, Kansas. Jeff attended Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota and served in the National Guard.Jeff and his family moved to Burney in 1979, where Jeff worked as a welder, a millwright and plant supervisor until retirement.Jeff is survived by his wife Cindy, married 46 years, his son Dustin and daughter-in-law Janet, his son Joshua, four loving grandchildren, his sister Maureen Matson of Riverton, Wyoming and five dearly loved sisters-in-law who thought of Jeff more as their brother.Jeff enjoyed hunting, fishing, yard work, his time at the fitness center, and playing cards with his grandchildren. He had many friends and cherished them all. His life was filled with happiness and love and we will all miss this brave man, the "Gentle Giant".In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Burney Boosters Club at Burney High School.
