George Allen Harris

George Allen Harris passed away on November 16, 2024 at his home in Anderson, CA. George was born September 16, 1938 in Mullhull, OK. to Agnes and Markus Harris. The family moved to California when he was very young to the Anderson/Cottonwood area. After attending high school in Anderson, George joined the US Navy and sailed on USS Samuel Moore working in the engine room. He served 3 years during the Korean conflict. After an honorable discharge returned to Anderson and married his sweetheart, Donna Mae Schoniger. They had 2 boys, Cory and William. They were married a beautiful 50 + years until losing his love in 2016.

George worked decades in the lumber industry for Kimberly Clark and Roseburg Lumber until his retirement.

After Donna's passing, son Cory moved back to the area to ease the loss. In 2020 at age 82 fought his first battle with cancer. He had 3 years of remission and returned in 2024. He is in no more pain and no more worry, standing with his wife, mother, father, friends, and siblings.

George was liked by some and loved by many. He was always there to help out someone in need. His passion were many.. fishing, hunting, watching documentaries, walking on the Sundial bridge, drinking coffee next to the a bonfire, growing tomatoes, camping, and going with his younger brother, Mark to count deer at the river park. But the top of his list, taking day trips around the local area, sharing his wealth of knowledge of all the history and landmarks with family and friends that will always be remembered.
