D. Eugenia Goodman, of Redding, died on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Mercy Hospital. She was eighty nine. She was born Dorothy Eugenia Galey on June 1, 1929 in Detroit Michigan. She attended David Lipscomb College in Nashville Tennessee, after a prior year of business college. She married Wendell Victor Goodman on April 17, 1956, and together, they had four children; Eric Dean, Donald Floyd, Robert John, and Paul Wendell. She found employment in bookkeeping, and later as an employee of the State of California, in the Employment Development Department, from which she retired after many years of service. A devoted wife and mother, her immediate, and Church of Christ, family were central in her life. Although she was a fairly traditional homemaker, Eugenia also believed passionately in social equality and supported workers rights as a proud member of the CSEA union. In retirement, she enjoyed computing, as a hobby, and served as treasurer of the Computer Users Group of Redding for several years. Her strength, wisdom, and feisty humor will be greatly missed. Eugenia is survived by her sister Helen Phillip, and sons, Don, Bob, and Paul. She was preceded by her husband Wendell, son Eric, and parents Floyd and Alice Galey. A memorial service will be held at McDonalds Chapel in Redding on Saturday, December 15th at 1:00 PM (viewing at 12:00 PM). For additional information please call (707) 362-6135.
