Redding- Elden Lynn “Pudge” Padelford, a beloved figure known for his humor, generosity, and compassion, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024 in Redding, California at the age of 86. Born on May 27th, 1938, in Whittier, California, Eldon lived a life full of warmth and kindness, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
In 1958, Elden married the love of his life, Bobbie Jean Padelford. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Elden was a devoted father to their three children, Loretta, Deborah, and Craig, instilling in them the values of hard work, integrity, and kindness. He was also a proud grandfather to three grandchildren, Ryley, Kyndle and Mason who brought immense joy to his later years.
Eldon was a Missile Test Engineer for Lockheed Missile and Space from 1963 to his retirement in 1994. Eldon had a passion for fishing and crabbing and spent countless hours in the San Francisco Bay or Winchester Bay with his family and friends. He was an avid cruiser with Bobbie enjoying cruises everywhere they could travel. Eldon enjoyed fishing trips and camping adventures with his family and friends. Eldon’s love for life and his infectious smile will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Eldon was a cherished brother to his siblings, including one brother, one half-sister, and two half-brothers. His family was central to his life, and he was deeply committed to nurturing these relationships throughout his years. Eldon’s sense of humor and ability to bring joy to those around him were hallmarks of his character, endearing him to friends and family alike.
Eldon’s life was a testament to the power of love and generosity. His ability to connect with people and his unwavering commitment to his family and friends made him a treasured presence in their lives. He was always ready with a joke to lighten the mood or a helping hand to those in need.
