September 13, 1918 - May 10, 2014
Charles "Chuck" Russell Robinson was born September 13, 1918 in Absarokee, Montana where his parents had homesteaded, and he was brought to California the same year when he was five weeks old. He passed away on May 10, 2014 at the St. Lorenz Assisted Living facility in Redding at the age of 95.
He attended Inglewood High School Ca, Frank Wiggins Trade School in Los Angeles (Printing) and UCLA (Teaching credential). Upon retirement in 1980 he moved to Shasta Lake City.
Chuck worked as a Printer at Anderson Press, Glendale, CA for five years, worked for Los Angeles City College for 34 years as a printer, print shop manager, and instructor of News Photography.
He was active in the First United Methodist Church of Redding, River City Jazz Society, the Redding Singles Group, and the Avalanche Ski Club.
During WWII he served in the South Pacific in the US Navy as Torpedoman 1st Class. His many interests included golf, photography, snow skiing, sailing, woodworking, and silk screening.
He leaves behind his sister, Shirley Martin (Doyle), of Lakehead, brother in law, Ted Elmgren of Alhambra, CA, Nieces and Nephews, Karen Byrne (Jim), of Lakehead, Richard Clark (Linda), of Pine Co, Mark Elmgren (Mary), of Whittier, CA, John Elmgren (Jodi), of Webster, WI, Steven Martin (Ann), of Torrance, CA, David Martin (Karen), of Bonita, CA and grand nieces and nephews.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Helen Robinson, wife Grace, and sisters harriette Hubert, Dorothy Clark, and Margaret Elmgren.
He was always very close to his family and will be greatly missed.
