Catherine Louise Bowman

Cathy was born on September 17, 1941 in Los Angeles,CA to Jedd and Ruth Farr.

She spent a lot of time living at her Grandmother's boarding house in Redondo Beach. Her Grandmother was a Godly influence on her. When Cathy was 9 years old she walked by herself to a church in the San Fernando Valley and there she met her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Cathy spent almost all of her adult married life in Redding, CA. She married Stan Herman in

1960 and was married to him until his death in 1983. In 1986 she married Earl Bowman, and remained married until her home-going.

Cathy was a dedicated and selfless mother to her daughters Shelly McLain (Greg) and Jana O'Connell (Dan) and Grandmother to Kary Corbin (Nate). She was also a loving Step-Mother to Todd Bowman (Angela), Wendy Hadry (Frank), Cindy Geary (Rick) and RaNae Allen (Chris) and their 15 children whom she thought of as her own grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Patricia Anderson (Larry), Beth Luttrell and Aunt Elsie Carne ( Robert) .

Cathy was very committed to being an at home mother. She led Blue Birds, Camp Fire Girls and worked for the Shasta County School District as a Substitute Secretary while her girls were in school. After Cathy’s husband died she became very involved in Mercy Hospital Hospice Chaplaincy. She was helped by the grief groups held through Hospice and in turn she led grief groups for widows. Through this she gained many friends and was able to serve. In the 1990’s she volunteered for Shasta County Literacy and worked on the Helpline with people in crisis.

Cathy suffered from debilitating pain through most of her adult life. She was an example of grace amidst suffering. She loved the Lord and attending church, meeting her second husband at Sunday School. She enjoyed hiking with her husband Earl, traveling, singing and most of all giving of her time and words of encouragement to others. She will be missed, but we know she is now with the Lord which is our hope and peace.
