DEAR MOM,
I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU! I KNOW THAT YOU ARE NOW, IN THE PRESENCE OF OUR LOVING HEAVENLY FATHER. “TO BE ABSENT FROM THE BODY IS TO BE PRESENT WITH THE LORD,” 2 COR. 5:8. YOU HELD THAT CERTAIN HOPE THAT YOUR SIN-DEBT WAS PAID, BOUGHT BY JESUS’ BLOOD AND RIGHTEOUSNESS, WHICH OFFERS GREAT COMFORT. I BELIEVE THAT, AS WELL. I AM THANKFUL THAT GOD SHOWED US HIS LOVE IN SENDING HIS ONE AND ONLY SON INTO THE WORLD THAT WE MIGHT LIVE THROUGH HIM. ONE DAY WE WILL BE REUNITED IN HEAVEN WITH OUR LORD AND SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST.
I THANK GOD FOR GIVING ME A LOVING, CARING, AND SUPPORTIVE MOTHER. I MISS YOUR PRESENCE.  I AM THANKFUL THAT WE WERE “HEART FRIENDS.” I MISS YOUR READY SMILE AND HUGS. I MISS OUR SCRABBLE GAMES.  MISS OUR TIME TOGETHER AT CHURCH. I MISS SITTING ON THE PORCH WITH YOU, DRINKING COFFEE AND DISCUSSING LIFE. I BOUGHT TWO MUGS THAT REMIND ME OF YOU. ONE SAYS, “BLESS YOUR HEART”, AND THE OTHER ONE SAYS, “YES MA’AM.” I SMILE EACH TIME I USE THEM. 
WE MISS YOU! SPECIAL WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS AREN’T THE SAME WITHOUT YOU.  ON THE RECENT 4TH OF JULY, WE REMEMBERED YOU DURING FIREWORKS- YOUR FINGERS IN YOUR EARS AND A BIG SMILE ON YOUR FACE! THE MEMORIES PUT SMILES ON OUR FACES AND IN OUR HEARTS.
MOM, YOU VALUED MERCY AND COMPASSION, CHEERED-ON YOUR LOVED ONES AND ENCOURAGED HOPE. THANK YOU!

Dear Grandma,
I think about you a lot Grandma especially now. I miss you. Summer is not the same without you it is hard to believe seven months have passed by some things have changed in my life as we celebrate your Earthly life, and yet I wish that I could hug and kiss you one more time on Earth. I wish that these things were in person I just want to share some things from the heart in an update from Christmas to now to have some Earthly closure. The first thing you were incredibly special Grandma to me and that will never change, and I got to watch you fight the fight and finish the race you were an inspiration to me Grandma how you handled the adversity of cancer it was hard seeing you in pain.
I am so glad to know that you are in Heaven. I am glad you are not suffering. That does comfort me. I still sometimes stare at your green chair and think about you. I know Jesus wept when Lazarus died, and He knew that He knew he would raise Lazarus. Sometimes, I think about The Invitation picture in your dining room. I smile when I think about Jesus’ invitation and I chuckle when I think of how you liked it that the silverware was lined up. I just feel there is a hole now in my heart even still! I know that I need to praise the Lord. I know he gives and takes away but blessed be His name and yet I still miss your presence.   
Grandma, you were one of my best friends. I treasured our late-night chats, and I loved your sense of humor. I miss the way you heckled me about girls. You were so funny! I am so glad you got to see my dreams, as a writer coming true. I know you will not see it when my book is published, and you will never meet my future spouse, but Grandma, you have a special place in my heart.   
I appreciate your generosity in always helping me reach my goals. I know that Jesus is victorious. That gives us hope, and you were a great encouragement in the great fun times and hard times. 
I will miss your stories about your life, especially Grandpa and Elvis.

What a great picture of a beautiful lady.  I had the pleasure to know Aunt Betty through my great friend and her wonderful niece, Debbie.  I am blessed to have shared some adventures with Aunt Betty at Rock n Roll for CASA and others related to work.
I know her spirit will live on through your family and the special memories of her she has given each of us.  Until we meet again Aunt Betty

“Me Mutter”

In recent years, my mom and I had settled into this silly little routine. I would call her on the phone and when she answered I would say “Is this me mutter?” …and she would reply “This IS you mutter!”  Then we would have our conversation. I can’t tell you how we got into that habit; we just did. But I grew to love it and I think she did, too.

My mom always leaned toward the light-hearted view of the world. She wanted to be, and was, happy and wanted everybody else to be, too. She was also thankful. For everything. No matter what bad news would come her way, she would start counting her blessings. Not a single phone call lacked her expressing her thankfulness to God, to her late husband, Lyle, and to all of her family. She would say ”So-and-so does for me and so-and-so does that for me.” 
Mom was a social-butterfly at heart. For as long as she could, she would attend plays and luncheons. Should always tell me about what she just did and what she was planning to do. Her social calendar always put mine to shame.

But she was always a bit of a worry wart. If she was watching the weather and they mentioned the word “storm” and “South” in the same sentence, I would find a voice mail asking “Are you guys all right?”

 Mom was generous. 
She was curious. 

And she was so old-school: a landline telephone; a massive VCR tape collection; and a doily for everything. And she like everything just so.

She was life-long fan of her classmate, Elvis.
But she was also strong and tough. Most diagnoses that should have stopped her merely slowed her down.
Mom was my first friend. My mind is filed with memories of her taking care of me as I grew up, teaching me how to be a big brother, dragging me around to buy school clothes, going to teacher conferences and my school band performances. 
She became the center of gravity for our family. The glue that held us all together. 

I will love her always and always be grateful that she was “me mutter!”

Betty was always  so sweet. Loved your sense of humor and  twinkle in your eyes!

She was the most patient and loving  person you could ever meet I will always
Remember her talking to me with her kind 
And loving words I remember when she got really happy she would say oh goody 
And I would laugh and say ok Daisy Duck 
And we would both bust up laughing 
Anyway she was loved and will be missed
I am glad I got to be her granddaughter 
I will miss you so so much but I know I will 
See you again soon so keep mom company 
While your up there.

Betty Jean Hyatt Munson was my Aunt Betty, she was the light in my life and my adventure buddy!  Aunt Betty was like a mother to me always there when I needed a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen to me, and just a presence of unconditional love!  She had an aura around her that drew people in and made them feel speciaI.   She welcomed you into her home and made you feel like it was yours.  I stayed with her for the last 6 years until she passed away! I will always cherish those memories.   She is up there with her beloved family and Alex Trebeck  Ha, Ha!  I will miss her terribly and always will remember her fondly.  I love you my sweet Aunt Betty (AB) as I called her!

I would like to share the following excerpt from a letter I wrote to my mother in June 2015.   
Dear Mom,
Increasingly, I find myself reflecting on my childhood and you-my mother. In this letter, I want to share some of those thoughts.  
First, I praise God that in his sovereign will, he gave me a loving, caring, affectionate, kind, friendly, fun, fashion able, hospitable, careful, and impeccable mother. During my childhood I often took many of these qualities for granted; however, now that my children are grown- and given opportunities to “stop and look around”- I realize I have an amazing mom! ‘Too bad it takes children so long to realize all that parents mean to them.     
I want to thank you for your love and support over the years. I know that by the time you gave birth to me, you had your hands full. How do I thank you for all that you have done over the years?  You gave birth to me and cared for me, dressed me up and sent me to Sunday school, Church and School. You took your turn as PTA President,  Safety Chairman, and volunteered at Spaghetti Feeds and Carnivals. I remember birthday parties, hobo costumes, new school and Easter clothes and my “daisy dress”, you sewed and I wore in one of the fashion shows. 
Mom, in childhood, I loved so much about you! I loved your ready smile and your plentiful hugs!
My siblings and I know that we are blessed. I praise God for giving us a mother for whom we today feel such pride and gratitude.  I appreciate the time we spend together- from the heart-felt conversations to the "wet your pants" humor, I cherish the moments. Most of all, I thank the LORD for blessing you with trust and peace and joy in Him. I see your relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ flourishing in these latter years. 
Mom, thank you for showering your love on us. I know that when the time comes, we need not grieve as those with no hope. One day, we will forever be together with the LORD.
