1953 - 2014
Benjamin Gregory Barron of Anderson, passed away at his home on March 30, 2014.
Greg was born August 14, 1953, in Fresno, California. He was the son of Benjamin and Maxine (Thomas) Barron and one of six children.
Greg grew up in Cloverdale and graduated from Anderson High School.
Greg spent years fighting fires for the Forest Service. He went to church every Sunday and regularly gave blood.
For many years Greg rode his bike all over Redding collecting cans to recycle to fund his many hobbies - no matter the temperature.
Greg loved his newly restored '56 Chevy and collecting parts for his other Chevy's. He enjoyed collecting coins and putting together model ships, airplanes and cars.
Greg also enjoyed all the holidays; going to the lake; taking care of his home and watching baseball - especially the S.F. Giants.
greg never missed an outing. He enjoyed going to Kool April Nites, the County fair, the Redding Air Show, the Asphalt Cowboy's pancake breakfast, the Redding Rodeo Parade, the Strawberry Festival, Marketfest; 4th of July fireworks and anything else happening around town.
Often misunderstood by others because they didn't understand his challenges. greg made the best of things, had a great outlook on life and asked for little.
Greg was a loving, compassionate man, who loved animals, had a great sense of humor, smiled and laughed a lot, and was always willing to help out his family and friends.
Greg had a wide range of knowledge regarding many subjects that interested him.
Greg is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin George and Margaret Maxine (Thomas) Barron.
He is survived by his siblings, Cheryl Tralle,, Mark Barron, Reesa Vogt, Meg Schmalz and Will Barron; special friend Arleen Baker; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
We will all miss Greg so very much!
