Vivian "Potsy" Colleen Hoofard, 87 years old of Red Bluff, California passed away on Tuesday, August 14th, 2018. Vivian was born on August 1st, 1931 to Thomas and Ruby Sanders in Trousdale, Oklahoma. She was the fourth of eight children and was born and raised on the family farm. Vivan attended school in Trousdale, Oklahoma where she played on the girls basketball team until she graduated from high school. On March 2nd, 1949 Vivian married Boyd "Royce" Hoofard in Henrietta, Texas. Vivian gave birth to their first child, Walter, in December of the same year. Over the next 15 years Vivian gave birth to seven more children; Terry, Kathy, Deanna, Martin, Randy, Mark and John. Boyd and Vivian moved back and forth between Oklahoma and California many times but finally settled in the Red Bluff area. Vivian was a devoted mother and wife and spent her time cooking and cleaning up after her family of 10. Vivian enjoyed sewing, canning, quilting, gardening and working in the yard. Her greatest love was caring for children, whether they were hers or not. It was not unusual for the neighborhood kids to spend their evenings or weekends at the Hoofard household. Vivian was preceded in death by her husband Boyd Royster Hoofard. Vivan is survived by her eight children; Walter, Terry (Dawna), Kathy (Joe) Cappello, Deanna (Robert) Wagenman, Martin (Cynthia), Randy, Mark (Rebecca) and John (Karen), as well as 28 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren; and brother Jerry Sanders (Shirlene). Vivian's family invites all who knew and loved her to share in a celebration of her life. A service will be held on August 20th, 2018, at 11:00 at the Chapel of Flowers, 816 Walnut Street, Red Bluff, California, followed by a graveside service at Oak Hill Cemetery.
