COTTONWOOD - Michael Allen Brunetta, age 57, died after his 3+ year battle with cancer, January 31, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. He was born August 14, 1963 in Burlingame, the son of Walter and E. Nadine (DeLay) Brunetta.
Michael relocated from the Bay area to the North State in 1992 where he began his 25+ year fire fighting career volunteering at Paynes Creek Fire Department. In 2006 he received his AA in Fire Technology & EMS, graduating from Shasta College with Honors. From there he worked on many Strike Teams with CalFire, Red Bluff Fire Department, and ended at Peninsula Fire, Lake Almanor as an Engineer. He volunteered at Red Bluff High School as an EMT for sporting events throughout his career and helped instruct students attending Spartan Fire Academy while under going chemotherapy. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as hiking, rock climbing, sky diving, and snowboarding. He participated in triathlons, bicycle races, and marathons. The "Alcatraz Challenge" was his favorite.
Michael is survived by his 2 sons, Joseph Brunetta of Hawaii and Gabriel Brunetta of Cottonwood; his parents Jose Quintana and E. Nadine Quintana of Cottonwood; his father Walter Brunetta and step-mother Susan Brunetta of Glen Carbon; his sister Michelle Brunetta of Cottonwood; his sister Merideth (Brunetta) Huddleston of Cottonwood; his brother Mark Brunetta of Bourbonnais; 3 neices, 2 nephews, 2 great nieces, and 3 great nephews.
A private family service will be held Saturday at 1:00 pm, February 13, 2021 at an undisclosed location. Those who wish to send they're sympathy's, please address them to his mother at 18575 Del Norte Drive, Cottonwood, CA 96022.
