

Jay Sutherland passed away on May 25th, 2012 in Corning, California. Jay was born at home around noon on September 19, 1959 in San Pablo, California, he was the youngest of fifteen, being delivered by his parents. Jay was a devoted son of Joe Glenn and Mary Oneta Sutherland. Jay was a loyal father to Jessica and Jason Sutherland. Jay was also a loving, dedicated grandfather to Anthony, Ariana, & Alishia Sutherland.
Jay was raised for the first ten years of his life in San Pablo, CA, he then spent another nine years in Richmond, CA. He then moved to Orland for 4 years, before being transferred to Elko, Nevada for two years, where he worked for the state. He then returned to California making his home in Corning where he was a resident for fourteen years. His hobbies were numerous; collecting & watching movies, his favorite being classic Western, The Three Stooges, along with zombie & action movies. His favorite sports teams were the San Francisco Giants & San Francisco 49ers. Jay also loved classic 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s music, and sang karaoke—his specialties were “Little Sister” by Elvis Presley and “Only the Lonely” by Roy Orbison –and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.
Beloved by his brothers and sisters; Glenneta Cruz, James Sutherland, Glenda Bentley, Jerry Sutherland, John Sutherland, Jesse Sutherland, Jody Sutherland, Janis Marlene, Judy Helzer deceased, Jack Sutherland, Julius Sutherland, Jeffery Sutherland, Jason Sutherland deceased, Joey Sutherland. Adored by his 37 nieces and nephews, and admired by his 57 great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be on Saturday, June 9th at 11:00am, at Hoyt-Cole Chapel of the Flowers in Red Bluff. Afterward there will be a private, family gathering at Woodson Bridge in Corning. Donations may be made to any Veterans’ Charity, or school, of your choice.
