Jane attended Dry Creek Elementary School where her mother was the teacher for all eight grades. Jane went on to graduate from Red Bluff High School, where she served as secretary of the senior class. Always a song bird, she sang at funerals to earn spending money. While working for Allen & Allen Plumbing, Jane met George White, who was also employed there. As a teenager, every spring Jane helped move the Dinkel Ranch cattle to Deer Lick Springs, Trinity County. When her children were young, she volunteered in the schools, serving as a room mother and PTA presidents. She and her husband George co-founded White, Davis and Hart Plumbing and Sheet Metal. After the death of her husband, Jane worked for Rasco, Sprouse Reitz and Zuckwieler stores for 20 years while enjoying the social aspects of being downtown.
A natural teacher, she enjoyed teaching Sunday school at the First Methodist School where her husband George had been chairman of the building committee. She was always quick with a sandwich for workers, cowboys and hunters. When complimented on the sandwiches, Jane would say it was the Best Foods mayonnaise. We knew it was the love.
