Thelma Lee (Pegram) White, 85, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on Tuesday February 5, 2019 at Spruce Manor. Born to the late Waverly and Gertrude (Scott) Pegram, on February 19, 1933, in Amelia County, Virginia. She was the loving wife of Clarence White for 25 years who preceded her in death. Thelma accepted Christ at a very young age at Greater Union Baptist under the late Rev. Gore. She was a member and had attended Union Baptist, until her health problems started. She was a firm believer in God, family, and friends. Thelma was a Reading High School graduate.
Thelma retired from Spruce Manor after working over 30 years of service. After retirement, Thelma worked for the Foster Grandparent Program at Lauer's Park.
Thelma leaves to cherish her memory, three children: Leslie (Cookie) White Cornell and her husband James Sr. of Lawrenceville, GA., Kathy White-Wheeler of Philadelphia, and son Eric (Jay) White of Reading, PA., John Kelly of Reading, Pa she considered him like a son; three grandchildren James Cornell Jr., Kyle Cornell, and granddaughter Erica White. Also surviving her sister-in-law, Barbara Pegram of Upper Malboro, MD., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. She also leaves to mourn a special niece, Betsy George. In addition to her parents Waverly and Gertrude, Thelma was predeceased by 2 brothers, William "Bill" Pegram and Robert "Bob" Pegram; her 3 sisters, Anna (Pegram) Waters-Bostick, Helena (Pegram) Younger, and Alice (Pegram) Peay.
A Home Going Service will be Tuesday February 12, 2019 at 12 noon in Theo C Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading. Burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Viewing will be Tuesday 11-12noon in the funeral home.
