Shirley Anne Palmer, 90, of Wyomissing entered eternal rest on January 8, 2023, at The Heritage of Green Hills. Born in Reading, PA on August 12, 1932, she was the cherished daughter of the late Ralph Franklin Haller Sr. and Anne Elizabeth (Ibach) Haller.
Shirley was a graduate of Wilson High School, class of 1950, and of the McCann School of Business.
Throughout her life, Shirley enjoyed golf, tennis, bowling, skiing, as well as singing and dancing. She found much pleasure in European river cruises, shore vacations, reading, crossword puzzles and arts and crafts. Shirley possessed a deep love for animals of all kinds and was always well-dressed, taking great pride in her appearance.
Devoted wife and loving mother, Shirley treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as “Mimi” to her grandchildren. Shirley was exceedingly generous, caring and supportive. Equal parts feisty, kind, considerate, and selfless, she set an example for her entire family to follow with her altruistic spirit and ability to love unconditionally. She will be sorely missed by all blessed to have known her.
Shirley's spirit will be carried on by her beloved husband of 63 years, John K. Palmer; her children Suzanne Palmer, Kathleen Heck, John F. Palmer and his wife LeeAnn. She also leaves behind her brother Ralph F. Haller Jr. and his wife Irene; her grandchildren J.R. Palmer, Scott Palmer, Alyssa Heck, and Tommy Heck; great grandchildren Harrison Heck, Palmer Shields McCready and Kooper Pendergast; and dog Bella, to cherish her memory.
Special Thanks to her caregivers, at home and at The Heritage, who knew her as “Miss Shirley”.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Auman's Inc., 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Prayer service will promptly commence in the funeral home at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Eleanor Hart Garner officiating.
