Shirley J. Newton, 87 born December 17th 1933 in Reading Pennsylvania. Predeceased by her loving husband, Rufus Williams. She is the daughter of Lorenzo "Bubba" Spencer (North Carolina)and Lucille Burton (Quarles)(Panama).
Shirley lived many places and attended school in Harlem NY, Reading Pennsylvania as well as Birsdboro Pa. She married Robert Newton The 1st and gave birth to a daughter, Yvonne Newton, (predeceased). Shirley is survived by her grandchildren, Hamilton Vidal Newton 49 and loving wife Candice Newton, Robert Newton The 2nd 47 and Vernon R. Newton 45.
Shirley is also survived by her Great Grandchildren Family Matriarch Jazmen Y. Newton ( w/loving fiance Sydney), Vidal N, Elyza D, Quincy N, Haley N, Tyler N, Anthony G, Serenitie N, Xavier A, Adisyn H and Great Great Granddaughter Kayliah C by way of Hamilton V. Newton.
Demetrius L, Yvonne N, Isabella N, Elijah, Deejanae N, Olivia N, Ayana N, Bobby Newton The 3rd and Great Great Granddaughter Laila L, by way of Robert Newton The 2nd.
Ausar Phadri Johnson-Newton, Pharaoh Ji-Had Johnson-Newton and Great Great Granddaughter Ava'rose Newton by way of Vernon Newton.
Shirley retired from Met-Ed after 30+ years of employment. Her true calling was Art and she became one of the Goggle Works first Artists at the location.
Shirley sacrificed herself totally for the sake of her family, focusing on historical education and self employment as a foundation for the generations that followed her. Although she raised her family in The Nation of Islam, she lived her final years as a devoted Christian and activist in the community.
