Robert L. "Hoghead" Tyson, 86, of Reading, went home to be with the Lord March 28, 2014 in the Reading Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Reading, on March 5, 1928 a son of the late Harvey and Frankie (Quick) Tyson.
Robert was an Army veteran during the Korean Conflict, a member of Holy Trinity Church of God, and in his early years, was a member of The Elks. He was a teacher for 46 years ending his career at Reading School District Southwest Junior High.
Robert is survived by his son, Gerard Tyson of Reading; his sister, Margaret Tyson of Flying Hills; his 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Tyson and Carol Tyson both of Reading; his daughter-in-law, Jayne Oakes; 6 grandchildren: Michael A., Tanika M., Tommy, Rhea, J.J., and Sonya; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his 3 sons: Michael Tyson, Harvey Jay Tyson, and Gerald Tyson, and his 3 brothers: Roosevelt Tyson, Harold Tyson, and Kenny Tyson.
Services will be Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 11 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church of God, 130 W. Buttonwood St. Reading, PA 19601. Burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. A viewing will be Monday April 7, 2014, 6-8 p.m. in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St, Reading and Tuesday 9-11 a.m. in the church. Online condolences may be made at www.theocauman.com.
