Richard C. Wentzel, 87, a resident of Berkshire Commons, died on January 10, 2024. He was the son of the late Lloyd C. and Helen (Witman) Wentzel. He graduated from Reading High School in 1954 and earned his B.S, in Civil Engineering from Drexel University in 1961.
He worked for the State of Pennsylvania Department of Forests and Waters in Harrisburg, PA and the New York Department of Conservation, in Ithaca and Albany, NY. He was also Treasurer of Division 169 PEF Steward Council.
In addition to rooting for the Eagles and Phillies, he loved entertaining the family at his cottage on Lake Cayuga, in Ithaca, NY.
He is survived by his two sisters: Anita L. Wentzel and Marlene W. Harlow, both of Exeter Township; two nephews: Michael E. (Nancy) Harlow, Woodbridge, VA, and Jeffrey A. Harlow, Exeter Township, and six grand nephews/nieces: Devin, Dillon, Kayla, Madison, Gannon, and Lynkyn Harlow.
A viewing for Richard will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Funeral services will promptly commence in the funeral home at 11:00 am.Burial will immediately follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
