He battled cancer for 6 years.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann (Hinnershitz) whom he shared 59 years of marriage.
Born May 4, 1927, in Johns-town, Pa., he was the son of the late Richard C. and Amelia M. (Lentz) Heming.
Richard was a member of Hope Luthern Church, Reading.
He was a sergeant in the Army Air Corps in WWII.
He was employed by the Reading Hospital in the maintenance department for 34 years, retiring in 1995. Richard worked for the Reading Police Auxillary for 15 years. He worked for Boscov's East, cleaning offices, until 2007.
Richard was a good husband, good father and a hardworking, self-educated man who was also proud to be a Blackfoot Indian.
He is also survived by a daughter, Lynn R., wife of Tom Jackson of Virginia Beach, Va.; a son, Richard E. Jr., husband of Sheila Heming of Muhlenberg Township; a daughter, Lori R. Pottiger of Sinking Spring; a son, Robert L., husband of Sandra Heming of Kenhorst; two brothers, Edward Heming of Johnstown, Pa., and Bernard Heming of Anchorage, Alaska; six grand-children and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday, July 9, 2010, at 10 a.m. in the Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn Street, Reading.
Burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
A viewing will be Friday, July 9, 2010, from 8:30-10 a.m. in the funeral home.
