It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a true American hero, a retired Staff Sergeant who served with honor in both the U.S. Army and Marine Corps. This veteran, whose name we hold in utmost respect, leaves behind a legacy of service and dedication.
Randy Paul Gagliano, 65, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at his residence.Born in Reading, PA on January 24, 1958, he was a son to the late Charles Sebastian Gagliano and Marguerite Helen (Sweitzer) Gagliano.
Randy dedicated a significant part of his life to serving his country. His military career spanned over 25 years, across both the U.S. Army and Marine Corps., where he exhibited unwavering commitment and courage in the face of adversity. Randy served 2 tours in Iraq, displaying remarkable bravery and commitment as a member of Bravo Company 628. As a retired Staff Sergeant at Ft. Indiantown Gap, he earned the admiration and respect of his comrades, serving as an inspiring example of duty, discipline, and leadership.
Throughout his life and distinguished military career, Randy was known for his outspoken nature, strong will, and unyielding determination. These qualities not only defined his character but also inspired his comrades in arms. Randy faced challenges head-on, always leading by example and instilling a sense of camaraderie within the ranks.
Beyond the battlefield, Randy was a man of many passions. His love for dogs was evident in the loyal companions that were always by his side, providing comfort and companionship. An avid cook and baker, he delighted in creating delicious meals and treats for family and friends. In quieter moments, Randy found joy in completing models of helicopters, cars, and battleships.
As we bid farewell to a true American hero, let us remember Randy for his courage, resilience, and enduring patriotism that extended beyond his uniform.
Randy's spirit will be carried on by his sister Faye Lesagonicz and her husband Paul, of Muhlenberg Township; his brother Charles Gagliano and his wife Sharon, of North Carolina; and his 2 nieces Valerie Hoffman and Shannon Spotts. Randy also leaves behind his great nephew Jaxson; his great niece Avery and a few cousins to cherish his memory.
In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by his partner of 36 years, Elaine J. Gogluizza.
A visitation for Randy will be held Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Graveside committal with military honors at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, will be Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 11:30am.
