Penny Ann Quick, 73, of Reading, PA went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Penn State Health - St. Joseph Medical Center. Born September 8, 1948 in Bolton, North Carolina she was a daughter to the late David J. Melvin and Cora (Blanks) Melvin.
Penny was a graduate of Armour High School, class of 1966. She was also a graduate of the Empire Beauty School.
Penny was a godly woman who loved the Lord. She was an active member of Holy Trinity Church of God, in Reading, where she was involved with the Ladies Ministry, Day House Ministry, prison ministry and sang in the choir.
For many years, Penny worked as a nurses aid. Caring for others at various locations including but not limited to: Berks Heim, Spruce Manor, Wyomissing Health & Rehab and privately with Home Health Care.
She spent her life caring for her family and friends, rarely stopping to do for herself. She was the true definition of loving and caring, always willing to help anyone in need.
Penny was a woman of many talents, she was a skilled seamstress, talented beautician, expert babysitter and master of word find puzzles. Her beautiful personality and kind spirit will be missed by everyone that has been blessed to know her.
Penny's spirit will be carried on by her husband of 53 years, Willie Lee Quick; her 2 sons Kevin Maurice Quick, Dennis J. Quick and his wife Angela, both of Reading; her 2 sisters Laura Waddell and her husband Wilbert, of Bolton, NC, Darlene Wilson, of Reading; 5 grandchildren Rebecca A. Powell-Quick, Makea J. Quick, Ashlee S. Quick, Dennis AJ Quick and his wife Natasha, Fitzgerald DM Quick; 4 great grandchildren Romeo, Jenna, Aerila, Zanirah, 2 nieces Audrey Lynn Ripley, Denise Murray; nephew Demetrius Wilson; 2 brother-in-law's David Quick, John Harold Quick and sister-in-law Cora Bogans. Penny also leaves behind 5 great nieces and nephews Paul, Tahjir, Christopher Jr., Jordyn and Julian to cherish her memory.
A viewing for Penny will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Church of God, 130 W. Buttonwood St., Reading, PA 19601. Homegoing service will promptly commence in the church at 11:00 AM, with Bishop Robert Brookins officiating. Graveside committal will immediately follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, 650 Fritztown Rd., Sinking Spring, PA 19608.
