Mary Louise Mengel

Penny was born in Reading on September 2, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Gracie Mary Elizabeth (Civita) Flagg and Fredrick Flagg.

While residing in Bernville was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Friedens Church. Penny spent twenty years as a hospice volunteer with Berks Visiting Nursing Association and was always helping anyone in need. She was very crafty and especially loved to crochet, do ceramics and stitch work. She enjoyed animals and had numerous pets over the years. In recent years she resided at the Phoebe Berks where she learned how to play Mahjongg. She had many friends throughout her life and will be missed tremendously by all who loved her.

Penny is survived by her sister Elaine C. Reinert wife of Dennis Reinert of Wyomissing who always referred to her as "Her Sissy". Grandchildren, Valerie Marmo, Robert Mervine, Chivaun Leonard, great grandchildren Vita Marmo, Aria Marmo, and Jordan Leonard and her two nieces Nan Reinert and Beth Reinert.

She is predeceased by her children Rick Mervine, Keri Mervine, Scot Mervine and her husband Edwin Mengel.

Graveside Services will be Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 1pm in Berks County Memorial Gardens, 201 Evansville Rd., Fleetwood, PA. 19522.

In lieu of flowers donations should be made in remembrance to the Reading Humane Society.
