Louise (Schaeffer) Moore passed away at her home on May 5, 2023 at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband John in February 1998. The daughter of the late Charles and Ellen (Trout) Schaeffer, she was born July 23, 1929 in Reading.
She was a proud graduate of Reading High School and member of St. Marks UCC where she married John Wesley Moore in 1951, sharing 47 wonderful years together. Having a strong sense of wanderlust, she and John traveled extensively throughout the US on many memorable vacations, and in later years, she and her traveling buddy Louise #2 visited France, Italy and Ireland; experiences she always cherished. Throughout her life, a special affection for America was undeniable, and her support for our veterans, native Americans and national parks was evidenced by her on-going charity.
After raising her children, she re-entered the workforce in 1977 as a secretary at Baldwin Hardware. She then took on the position of secretary to President Severin Fayerman, and continued in that position with his successors until her retirement in 1996. Within the year, she accepted the position of personal assistant to Mr. Fayerman, working at his Oley home, “Boonecroft Farm” and went on to edit his compelling memoirs “A Survivor’s Story”.
Louise loved music and dancing and always talked about all the fun she had with her many friends. She seldom wavered about the music of her era being the best. Nat King Cole and Bobby Darin could do no wrong, but to her the crème de la crème was always “old blue eyes”.
She had a great sense of humor and a cheerful heart, always seeing the funny side of things. She enjoyed watching the Phillies and Jeopardy with her granddaughter Kelly, and an “air high five” from across the room was sure to happen for an impending home run or a correct final Jeopardy answer. They had a connection that was second to none and loved sharing time together. Whether a special occasion or just simply hanging out, any time together was time well spent.
Louise is survived by a daughter Bonnie (Civitarese) companion of Thomas Eckenroth, of Cumru Township, son Steven, of Birdsboro, granddaughter Kelly Civitarese, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a sister Anna (Smith), of Green Hills and 4 nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother Charles W. Schaeffer, Jr., sister Betty Boettlin, and nieces Theresa Schaeffer and Sue Anne (Smith) Lattanzio.
She will be remembered as a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Life will never be the same without her and she will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Aziz and the compassionate nurses, aides and staff in the “N” building at Tower Health, as well as the hospice nurses and aide who provided wonderful care at home.
