Lottie Adelia (Miller) Hill, 103, formerly of Wyomissing Hills, passed away peacefully in Phoebe Berks Health Care Center on Saturday, May 27, 2017 with her daughter by her side. She was the loving wife of the late Christopher Franklin Hill. The couple married on Christmas Day, 1936. Sadly, Christopher preceded Lottie in death in 2000.
Born in Dauberville on May 4, 1914, Lottie was a daughter of the late William L. and Minerva C. (Wagner) Miller. She was a lifelong member of the former Calvary United Methodist Church, Wyomissing, now known as Calvary Campus/Holy Cross UMC.
Lottie worked part time at Whitner’s Dept. Store, downtown Reading as a gift wrapper for 15 years before retiring.
Lottie enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening and golfing. She liked to play cards and especially pinochle. She was very social and enjoyed her time with the former Ladies Auxiliary Green Valley Country Club, Women’s Club of Wyomissing Hills, Ladies Aide Society of Calvary UMC and Green Valley Senior Ladies Bowling League where she bowled until she was 95! Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandsons and great grandchildren.
Surviving is a daughter, Carole C. (Hill) Hepner and her husband, Ret. Lt. Col. Dennis L. Hepner of Wyomissing; two grandsons: Dennis L. Hepner, Jr. and his wife, Denise L. of Temple and Christopher S. Hepner and his wife, Melissa A. of Leesport; four grandchildren: Alden J., Vogan K., Emily M. and Bethany A. and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Lottie is predeceased by her two brothers: Wayne P. and Harvey L. Miller.
Services for Lottie will be at 11am Thursday, June 1, 2017 in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading, PA 19601 with Pastor Mandy Miller officiating. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home on Thursday from 10 to 11am. Lottie will be laid to rest with her husband in Fairview Cemetery of Centre Twp., Mohrsville.
