Leo J. Loeper, 78, of Reading, Pennsylvania passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 in Tower Health Reading Hospital . Leo is survived by his wife of 32 years, Joanne B. (Cassidy) Loeper. He was born in Reading, PA. on February 18, 1944 a son of the late Leo J. and Cecelia (Gieringer) and the youngest of 11 children.
Leo was a devout and faithful member of St. Catharine of Siena and was employed by Carpenter Technology Corp. as a specialty steelworker for 37 years retiring there. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed his time hiking on the trails communing with nature. Leo was a fanatic fantasy football and baseball league fan achieving a 3x Champion football and 2x baseball Championship. He was an avid runner and successfully completed a half marathon and additional 5k races. Leo loved to travel and ventured on many cruises and he enjoyed his evening glass of spirits which some may say he wa a cordial connoisseur. He loved all of God's creatures including filling the 12 birdhouses he had at home. Along with his wife, he was a registered Girl Scout and helped with many activities over the tears. Leo's two dogs, Murph and Sterling were predeceased by him.
In addition to his wife, Joanne, Leo is survived by 4 children; David C. and his wife Michelle Loeper of Medina, OH., Sandra Loeper and her wife Kathleen Cox of Powell, OH., Tonya and her husband Kevin Conrad of West Reading and Deborah and her husband Michael Hoehn of Dublin, OH., brother, Gerald Loeper, 11 grandchildren; Benjamin, Alexander, Owen, Ashley, Kennedy, Elin, Amelia, Corinne, Michael, Ethan and Gabriel.
Leo was predeceased by his siblings; Robert Loeper, Frederick Loeper, Albert Loeper, Valeria Moyer, Dolores Spanier, Cecelia Rinalli, Rose Marie Pawelski, Rita Sroka and Elizabeth Ferreri.
Leo was predeceased by his son, David M. LaGrange on April 19, 2003.
A viewing for Leo will be held Monday, September 19, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Catharine of Siena RCC, 4975 Boyertown Pike, Reading, PA. 19606, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.
