Laura was the beloved wife of the late Edward Franklin Lorah who passed on May 25, 2006, sharing 56 years of marriage.
Born on the family farm in Oley Township on December 21, 1928, she was the daughter of the late James H. Fisher and Hannah (Strunk) Fisher.
She worked at Berkshire Knitting Mills and drove school bus for the Boyertown School District for 37 years. She was loved by all her “bus children and families” and no matter where she went, ran into someone she knew from her many years of driving bus.
One of the many things that made Laura happy was spending her vacations traveling across the United States in the family camper with her “boys”. Her favorite places to visit were National Parks, Mount Rushmore and Dollywood. Her hobbies were cooking for her family and playing cards with her friends.
Laura and Ed spent many years on Rhoads Avenue and North Franklin Street, and then retired to Walnut Woods in Boyertown. She was a resident of Berkshire Commons and Berkshire Center, now called Complete Care at Berkshire Center where she passed peacefully.
Laura’s deep-rooted faith was central to her life. She was a devoted member of The Good Shepherd United Church of Christ in Boyertown where she belonged to the church choir.
She was the loving mother to her 3 sons, Kane E. Lorah and wife Sharon of Bristol,NH, Todd Lorah and wife Cathy of Boyertown, PA, and Troy Lorah and wife Carol of Greer, S. Carolina, and mother-in-law to Joanne Lorah. Laura was the proud grandmother to Aaron Lorah, Adam Lorah, Nathan Lorah, Christie Harrison, Spencer Lorah, Shane Lorah, Seth Lorah, and Alexis Lorah, and great grandmother to Mason, Ella, Zander, Rowan, Sophie, Leighton, and Gideon. Laura had a large and loving extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins, and great nieces and nephews. Laura was known for acknowledging every birthday and anniversary.
She is predeceased by her six siblings: Erma O. (Fisher) Weidner Baer, James Marion Fisher, Willard O. Fisher, Jacob L. Fisher, Frank S. Fisher, and Murray W. Fisher.
