Judith "Judy" Esther Weitzel Cook, 86, of Mohnton, PA entered eternal rest on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Phoebe Berks. Born in Reading, PA on November 30, 1937, she was a daughter to the late David Henry Martin Jr. and LaVerda Beatrice (Baum) Martin.
Judy dedicated over 20 years, as a school bus driver with Governor Mifflin School District, until her retirement in 1988. Over those years, she was a watchful mother for her student passengers, making sure they were happy, well behaved, and made it to school and back home safe and sound.
In her spare time, Judy would keep herself busy knitting and doing word search puzzles. She possessed a strong faith in God and loved to read her Bible and Christian novels.
Judy was the caring and supportive matriarch of her family. Despite facing health issues and challenges throughout her life, she never complained, always remained optimistic, thankful, and resilient. Judy will be fondly remembered for her gentle, humble and easy-going spirit. She will be missed by all blessed enough to have known her.
Judy's spirit will be carried on by her 3 children Carol Ann Barth and her husband Robert, of Leesport, PA; Paul David Weitzel and his wife Sandra, of Cumru Township and Dianne Linda Dennis and her husband Brad, of Brecknock Township. She also leaves behind her brother David John Martin and his wife Jeanette, of Robeson Township; son-in- law Mark Landis; 7 grandchildren Matthew Landis and his wife Anna, Natalie Weitzel, Paul D. Weitzel Jr., Rachel Hebhardt and her husband Dale, Allison Dennis, Elizabeth Dennis, Jonathan Dennis; 6 step grandchildren Jeremy Landis, Bradley Landis, Heather Whitman, Matthew Barth, Brandi Barth, Robert Barth III; 5 great grandchildren Hunter Weitzel, Tessa Weitzel, Alaina Mitsky, Thomas Landis, Clara Landis; and 7 step great grandchildren Gabriel Landis, Bella Landis, David Whitman, Jason Fisher, Jazlyn Fisher, Genevieve Fisher and Bjorn Barth to cherish her memory.
In addition to her parents, Judy was greeted in heaven by her 1st husband Paul B. Weitzel, who passed in 1971; her 2nd husband Robert Cook; who passed in 2006 and her daughter Eileen Joy Landis; who passed in 2023.
A viewing for Judy will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 391 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606; with a funeral service promptly commencing in the funeral home at 11:30 AM, with Pastor Gregg Laskow officiating. Graveside committal will immediately follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
