Jenny Giles

After spending some time in Alabama and Reading, PA, she moved to Buffalo, NY, where she graduated from East High School.

After graduation, she became a seamstress for a dry-cleaning business in Buffalo, NY. The profession quickly became her passion as she mastered her craft. She delighted in designing clothes for herself and others.

She later worked for a [Buffalo, NY] suit manufacturer as a seamstress for many years.

During that time, she joined St Mark’s Church in Buffalo, NY. There, she was born again in Christ, growing her Christian roots and becoming active within the church.

Jenny moved to Reading, PA, in 1994 to help care for her mother. She then transferred her church membership from St. Mark’s, Buffalo, NY, to Bethel AME, Reading, PA. At Bethel AME Church, Reading, Jenny was a member of the Steward Board, served faithfully as the pastor’s steward, and was a finance commission member. She also served as a choir member and was the assistant church school superintendent for over 20 years.

Also, while in Reading, PA, she worked as a seamstress at Aramark. She also became the employee union steward at Aramark. The stewardship allowed her to travel often and significantly impact wherever she went. She reveled in this role, fighting for the employees’ rights.

Jenny had an everlasting loving and gentle spirit. She was kind, generous, and an example of care, gratitude, and grace. She was a virtuous woman and will be sorely missed by all blessed enough to have known her.

Those that precede Jenny are: father Marvin Hall, Sr., brother Jimmy Giles, mother Mattie(Hall) Giles, and brother Elmore Shorter.

Siblings that survive her: brother Jerry Hall (Buffalo, NY), sister Shirley Hall (Buffalo, NY), brother Amos Hall and sister-in-law Gail Hall (Reading, PA), brother Marvin Jr. and sister-in-law Virginia Hall (Buffalo, NY), Roger Hall (Reading, PA), David Hall and sister in law Tabatha (Buffalo, NY), sister Danielle McCarey (Buffalo, NY); a godson, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service for Jenny will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 4PM at Bethel AME, 330 W. Windsor Street, Reading, PA 19601. Repass at the church following the service.

BUFFALO, N.Y.

A Celebration of Life Service for Jenny will be March 23, 2024 at 11AM in Tabernacle of Praise,

319 Northland Avenue, Buffalo, N.Y. 14208. Repass to follow at 230 Masten Avenue, Buffalo, N.Y. 14209.

Jenny will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
