Gar was born in Olean, NY on February 4, 1945 a son of the late Robert F. and Alice L. (Deyo) Davidson.
He was raised in Buffalo, NY and earned his degree in chemical engineering from the University of Buffalo. After that, he relocated to Reading, PA where he held various management positions at UGI for 31 years before retiring in 2001. Following his retirement, he served as the administrator for Lower Saucon Water Authority for 15 years until his final retirement at the age of 70.
Gar had a passion for the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles football teams. Throughout the years, he enjoyed a range of hobbies, including photography and hands-on activities such as leaded glass, leather crafting, soap stone carving, woodworking, and clock repair. He taught himself to play the guitar and liked gathering with "The Herd" several times a year for guitar parties. In his earlier years, he actively participated in his children's scouting experience, first as a den leader and then as the Pack Master for the Cub Scouts. He later became the committee chairman for the Boy Scouts. Additionally, he volunteered at the Philadelphia Folk Festival for 25 years and the Celtic Festival in Bethlehem for 12 years. He also provided sound engineering services for Godfrey Daniels in Bethlehem. Gar enjoyed outdoor activities such as white water rafting, camping, and mountain biking. He maintained membership in various professional engineering societies and participated in community activities.
In addition to his wife, Gar is also survived by his 2 sons; Robert Davidson, James and his wife Stephanie Davidson and 5 grandchildren; Shane Davidson, Garret Davidson, Joshua Davidson, Nicholas Davidson and Destiny Howard.
A viewing for Gar will be Monday, January 8, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Auman's Inc, 391 W Neversink Rd, Reiffton, PA 19606, followed by a service at 11:00 AM.
Gar will be laid to rest in Forest Hills Memorial Park
