Born August 22, 1943 in Reading, Brenda was a daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Burford) Washington.
Brenda was a 1961 Reading High School graduate. She worked for CNA Insurance Company, retiring after 15 years of service. Brenda last worked at Boscov’s department store for over 5 years.
Brenda was an avid Bingo player! She was a firm believer in God, family and friends. Brenda enjoyed spending time with her family. Many viewed her as a mother figure. She was a faithful friend, always there to lend an ear or a helping hand.
In addition to her husband, Edward; Brenda leaves behind to cherish her memory, five children: Ricky D. Pegram of Reading, Michael C. Pegram of Reading, Rory B. Pegram and his wife, Wanda of Charlotte, NC, Tanya D. Mann of Norfolk, VA and Letitia A. (Mann) Holt and her husband, David II of Douglassville; seven grandchildren, Shannel A. Pegram, Jahuan A. Pegram, Dante T. Pegram, David R. Holt III, Jordhan A. Peterson, Sean A. Peterson and Zariya K. Holt and two great grandchildren, Myah L. Pegram and McKenna L. Pegram.
Also surviving are her brother, Curtis Washington and his wife, Bonnie of Mechanicsburg; a cousin that was like a sister, Fran E. Thompson of Reading; an aunt, Viola Whitfield of West Chester; her mother-in-law, Elsie (Mann) Terrell of Reading; her sister-in-law, Deborah Terrell of Reading and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Albert and Elizabeth; Brenda is predeceased by her two sisters, Cheryl and Juanita Washington; her brother-in-law, Harold O.D. Mann and her father-in-law, Harold C. Miller.
Home Going Service for Brenda will be at 10am on Saturday, June 16, 2018 in Spring Valley Church of God, 2727 Old Pricetown Rd., Temple, PA 19560. A viewing will be Friday, June 15, 2018 from 7 to 9pm in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading, PA 19601 and on Saturday morning in church from 9 to 10am. Brenda will be laid to rest in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reading.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society Berks Co. Unit, 3893 Adler Pl., Ste. 170, Bethlehem, PA 18017.
