Betty Ann Zezenski passed away on December 13, 2023 at 81 years of age. She will be missed by many friends and most of all, her family. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Zezenski, and two sons, David (wife Alison) and Dan (wife Lisa). She is predeceased by her parents, Sylvester & Mary Ziolkowski, and a brother, Jerry Ziolkowski.
Betty and Dennis married on November 14, 1964, recently celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary together. When they met, she was already a hard worker straight out of high school, employed by CNA Insurance on Penn Street. However, she happily took a hiatus from her job in 1965 to prioritize raising her sons.
She was an avid reader, had a desire for truth and wanted to understand the Bible. When David was very small, he announced that a “man with a pocketbook” was at their door; a Bible teacher whose visits eventually led to both Betty and Dennis studying the Bible together. They were baptized on the same day as Jehovah’s Witnesses: July 10th, 1971 at Buckingham Assembly Hall, one year after their second son, Dan, was born.
When her sons were teenagers, Betty returned to her job at CNA Insurance and worked there until she took an early retirement in the late 90’s. Her aging mother moved in with them, as well as her mother-in-law sometime later, and she was a patient, diligent fulltime caregiver for both of them until they passed away.
Although Betty was shy around strangers, she was highly observant and thoughtful. Her family knew her to be loving, generous and devoted, and she always prioritized family relationships, continuously supportive of their busy lives. She and Dennis were always together. She had standing, weekly appointments for dedicated time with both of her sons - virtually, with David & Alison, who are missionaries in Africa, and lunch appointments with Dan, with whom she and Dennis lived for the last 5 years. She worked diligently with Lisa at mealtimes, instantly and meticulously wiping away any mess before the kitchen ever got dirty. Betty loved her daughters-in-law deeply, regarding them both as if they were her own flesh and blood.
A Memorial Service will be held on January 6, 2024 at 1pm, Reading East Congregation Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 4880 Oak Parkway, Reading PA 19606.
