Betty W. Moyer

Betty was born March 3, 1925, a daughter of the late Roy and Mary Jane Wolford in Martinsburg, West Virginia, and lived in Bern Township.

There is one sibling, her sister, Natalie West.

She graduated from Reading High School and enjoyed playing basketball and attended all class reunions.

She was predeceased by her husband, Luther Moyer, in 1991.

Betty was active in her community, working with the cub scouts as a den mother, the Reading Lutheran Pantry, the Homeless Shelter, the afterschool tutoring program, vacation bible school, and summer lunch programs. She was instrumental in starting the friendly seniors at Hope Lutheran Church.

She worked for Bell Telephone. She retired from the medical records department at the Berks Heim in 1993.

Betty is survived by her 2 sons; Roger and his wife, Gretchen Moyer, of Sinking Spring, and Glen Moyer of Leesport. Betty has 5 grandchildren: Jamie, Jesse, Troy, Jaime Lea and Ryan, and 7 great-grandchildren: Austin, Taylor, Alyssa, Kennedy, Gavin, Cecily and Robert James.

She delighted in her family and her kindness and

generosity were legendary.

Services will be Monday, March, 18 2013, at 1 p.m. in Theo C. Auman Inc Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading. Burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. A viewing will be Sunday 7-9 p.m. and Monday 12-1 p.m. in the funeral home. www.theocauman.com.
